Visit the Farm

Lots to see and do at Bent Pine Farm. Visit us @ the Farm…

Each visit to the Farm includes:

Farm Tour – visit the animals, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, goats, hogs, rabbits, and fish (you can’t really play with the Tilapia, but you can see hundreds of them, all sizes!)

Demos of the things we do here on the Farm – fermenting veggies, cheese-making, bread-making, spinning, weaving, bookbinding

Sampler (a taste of our Farm food) – taste the veggies, salsa, sauerkraut, sausage, cheese, bread, herb teas, and kombucha.

Each overnight stay includes:

Farm Tour – visit the animals and help to feed them!

Activities – ferment veggies, make bread, make cheese, sew, spin, weave, or just watch…

Ginger Beer !!

Two weeks ago we made the ‘ginger plant’ (that’s the culture). At this past Blue Hen Tuesday, we made the ginger beer. It’s a great probiotic beverage and a nice addition to our kombucha and water kefir offerings. Its made with fresh ginger root, sugar, and yeast. Non-alcoholic…great fun!

We’ll get the recipe up on the website so that you can have a go…or you can join us on Blue Hen Tuesday!

Happy Homesteading,

Welcome to the Lost Arts

“And over here is the Lost Arts House. Come in and see what we are doing to bring back the skills that are disappearing over time.”

It’s always fun to watch the reactions when we have visitors to the Blue Hen Farm – Lost Arts House. Surprise and curiosity mostly, often delight. That’s the most fun!

It’s not your traditional use for a house. But it is a great adventure developing a folk school, especially a non-traditional one. Spinning, weaving, bookbinding, cooking, and music…. everyday goings-on at Blue Hen Farm. And most importantly, storytelling!

Everybody is different, likes and dislikes, perspectives, beliefs, tastes, personalities, homesteads, and stories. We collect stories…from friends, relatives, people we grew up with, people we shared experiences with as we grew, and of course new friends – Tales from the Farm.

Come and see us. Add your family to the bookshelf.
