Thanks to our new filter – a Matala Biost Pro – 2 new Plekos (thanks, guys) – and better high protein Tilapia food from Blue Ridge, we can actually see our Tilapia! Thanks so much to Pat and Joe at Sandy Acres Koi Farm in Dunnellon FL for setting us up with what we needed to clear things up!
Fry – .25 (25 cents) each
Fingerlings (approx 1″) – $1 each
While we slept 1,000 tilapia fry were born. We never suspected a thing. But this morning, as we gazed into the breeding tank, it seemed as though the bottom was moving, changing color and pulsating. … hundreds of baby Tilapia, not even an inch long yet. Welcome Baby Fry! That’s a lot of fish!
June 2017 – That was the original post above. And still the Fry keep coming. Now some of them are fingerling size. We have added them to the product list at $1 each.
Don’t waste your time and money with one of those soft side pools. They leak in mysterious places. They collapse with no warning. And they provide inaccessible hiding space under the rim. Follow the Fish Saga on the Tilapia Directory page: Tilapia Directory of Posts And if you are starting with Tilapia, go with the hard sided pool!
