New Digs for Pigs

Read the original post about the new American Guinea hogs.  we acquired them by barter in Dec 2015, which is a good thing.  We had to drive 3 hours to pick them up, which is not such a good thing.

They were car sick on the way home and smelled just like…hogs!  They originally took up residence at Appleseed Homestead around the corner from us.  Read more

Finally in Sept 2016 the pigs relocated to Bent Pine Farm today. They have taken up residence in the South Woods…seem to be lovin’ it!

4 Little Pigs – Not So Little

The hogs are growing fast.    Alexander is about 50 lbs and approximately 5 mos old.  Rachel who was the smallest is now the same size as Sweetie. Both are 3 1/2 mos, and Cheerio is 4 mos.

American Guinea hogs are just the right size for homesteading.  Full grown they will weigh about 250 lbs.  The girls will be breeding age at about 8 mos.
