It’s All in How You Look at It.

“The orchids are lovely, this time of year,”
said the goat to the ducklings next door.
“So pleasant to look at,
immeasurably bright,
and dandy as never before.”

“The pig food is brilliant,” the rooster observed,
as he strutted and puffed out his chest.
“I’m sure that I’ve never observed such a feast;
quite sure it surpasses the rest.”

“The pasture’s divine!” the Orpingtons cooed.
“The goats should be praising their luck.”
Then Sweetie let out a blood-curdling squeal,
thanking stars that she wasn’t a duck.

“How do they endure it?” she cried through her gate,
as she turned her snout to her peers.
“They’ve nothing that I’d want to see on my plate.
Why, I’ve seen nothing like it in years!”

The bunnies said nothing, which is par for the course,
but thought to themselves with appall
“We won’t see the greenery that we adore
till after the harvest next Fall.”

The children avoided the kitchen delights,
preferring to lessen the prep.
But ran to the garden to gather their strength,
using carrots as the first step.

So taking a lesson from what we’ve observed,
We can say that it’s sad but it’s true.
The appeal of any culinary delight
Is all in your own point of view.
