Rebuilding the Duck Pond – Nov 2015

Resident Ducks in the New Pond
Resident Ducks in the New Pond

We built this pond at the lowest point on the property.  When we first built the pond, we lined it with sand.  All the water drained out overnight.  Then we lined it with sodium bentonite (clumping kitty litter) and a top layer of soil.  That seemed to work well.

It has a constant trickle feeding in, so it stays pretty much full.  It started out about 2 feet deep in the middle.  Over the last three years it has filled in quite a bit so the ducks can walk across.  It needs to be drained and re-dug.
