In May 2017 we built a pig crate to transport Cheerio to a processor’s  homestead in Citra.    We got back 98 lbs of pork.  It cost us $100 plus the cost to transport about 50 miles…and the time to get there and back twice.  We decided to learn how to do our own hog processing.

In August Sweetie had her first litter.  Thank goodness she is a good Mom!  At the end of Sept we were able to offer piglets for sale.   We were surprised to find a very limited market for hogs.  In the meantime, Alex is digging mud holes…   and Rachel is about to add to the growing family.
